Careers
Small team, real work, based in Kano.
ZERODAONE LTD is early. That is the honest framing: we are a small team shipping two products, the company was incorporated in 2026, and everybody who joins now is building rather than supervising. If you want a large organisation with a defined ladder, this is not that. If you want your work to be visibly load‑bearing, it is.
What we look for
- You ship. Finished work in the world counts for more than a well‑argued plan. We would rather see something you built that people use.
- You care about the constraints here. Intermittent connectivity, expensive data, mid‑range Android devices, users who are nobody else’s priority. Designing well inside those limits is the interesting part of the job, not a compromise.
- You are careful with other people’s data. We build a messenger and a marketplace. Both hold things that matter. Carelessness here is not a personality quirk.
- You write. Decisions get written down. If you cannot explain a trade‑off in a paragraph, it usually is not settled yet.
The kinds of work
Current products are built with TypeScript across the board: React Native and Expo on mobile, Next.js on the web, Node services behind them, Postgres, and infrastructure managed as code. Zaure is a Matrix client, so protocol‑level and end‑to‑end encryption work is real work here, not a library call.
Areas we expect to hire into as the company grows: mobile engineering, backend and infrastructure, product design, and operations for the marketplace.
Open roles
No formal openings are posted right now. This page is the place they will appear.
We do read speculative applications and we do act on the good ones. Send what you have built — a repository, an app, a project someone uses — and a short note about what you want to work on, to careers@zerodaone.com. Please do not send a cover letter written by a language model; it tells us nothing about you.
Working here
The company is based in Kano, Kano State. We favour people who can be here or spend real time here — being close to the users is part of the method — but we will consider remote for the right person and are explicit that this is a preference rather than a rule.
